Concierge family medicine in Dallas
Concierge medicine means a doctor who limits how many patients he takes on, so each one gets more time and easier access. Metzger Family Medicine works that way: Dr. Tyler Metzger, DO keeps his patient list short on purpose at his membership family practice on LBJ Freeway, near the Galleria in North Dallas.
What you get
- Visits as long as they need to be
- Same-day or next-day appointments when you are sick
- A direct line to Dr. Metzger
- Referrals, with follow-up on the results
- Reminders for checkups, screenings and labs
Reaching the doctor after hours
Members reach Dr. Metzger directly, day or night, weekends included. After hours, a text is the best way to reach him; you can also call or email. You get his direct number when you join. If it may be an emergency, call 911.
How this differs from a regular primary care office
Most practices care for thousands of patients, which leaves little time for each one. Here is what is different here:
- Visits last as long as they need to, with time to talk through what is bothering you.
- When you are sick, you are usually seen the same day and almost always by the next.
- You reach Dr. Metzger directly, day or night.
- Membership covers your visits and your access to him.
- He makes specialist referrals, follows up on the results and helps you understand what comes next.

Questions
Are concierge doctors worth it?
It depends on what you want from a doctor and how often you need one. Membership tends to suit people who want unhurried visits, quick appointments and a direct line to a doctor who knows them. It may suit you less if you rarely see a doctor and are happy with the care you have. We are happy to help you think through what makes sense for your family.
What is the downside of a concierge doctor?
Membership does not replace a health plan for things like hospital stays, surgery or specialist visits, so many members keep both. You are also choosing one doctor in a small practice rather than a large group.
Is this the same as direct primary care?
They are close. Both limit the number of patients. "Concierge" can also describe a practice that bills insurance for visits as well. Metzger Family Medicine is a membership-based direct primary care practice.
